Our Men's 1st team travelled to the London Aquatics Centre on Monday evening to face Colchester in the WL Cup Final, needing to overturn a twelve goal deficit due to the handicap rules, we won the game 19-6 on the night & 21-20 on handicap.
The game began with Watford taking a 4-0 1st quarter lead thanks to efforts from Josh Barrett, Dusan Crompton, Aksel Gerhardstein & George Sadler.
Captain Sam Carling scored early in the 2nd Qtr before Colchester hit three in a row to get back in the game.
However the team regrouped and with goals from Sadler, Crompton and a double from Andy Holt, we went into half time with a 9-3 lead.
The third period saw our boys hit seven to Colchester's one to level the game on handicap 18-18 at the end of the period.
Notable Barrett hit a hat-trick and a Carling double with further strikes from Zac Corcoran & Holt did the damage in the third period.
Into the final eight minutes and Colchester scored first to retake the lead on handicap at (18-19) but goals from Josh Pender, Matt Williams & Carling had us 19-5 up (21-19 on handicap).
With time running out Colchester scored again but it was all too little late as we held on to win the Cup and retain it for a third season in a row.
