This season’s Junior Winter league season is now up & running & Watford’s U14’s, U16’s & U18’s have all made an early impression in their opening tournaments..

Watford U14’s – 15th November
The U14’s started their campaign on Sunday 15th November at QE Boys school, the team are in the North Division along with Chelmsford, Ealing & Enfield.
The U14’s got their season off to the perfect start beating Ealing in their opening fixture 3-2, the game was finely balanced at half time at 1-1, Watford’s Jack Lamb leveled the game after winning a man-up with only 63 seconds of the half remaining. The second half saw Watford again come from behind as Lamb leveled the game again at 2-2 and with 2.52 mins to play Rushil Shah put Watford in front for the first time & they held on to the lead to earn their first win of the season.
The second game of the day against Chelmsford was again a tight affair as Saul Landau opened the scoring for Watford, Chelmsford equalised 30 seconds later but another goal from Landau put Watford back in front at 2-1 again Chelmsford equalised for 2-2 but with the game almost at half time Watford Lamb scored his team’s third for a half time 3-2 lead.
Into the second half & Watford extended their lead to 4-2 thanks to Rushil Shah however the team couldn’t hold onto the lead as Chelmsford hit three unanswered goals to snatch victory at 5-4.
The team’s final game of the day was against local rivals Ealing & in a one-side contest the team won 5-0, a first half hat-trick from Rushil Shah & a goal from Anna Leeson had the team leading 4-0. The second half wasn’t such a goal feast as J Mathan scored to finish of the game 5-0.
Following the first round of matches the team are sitting in second position behind league leaders Chelmsford. With three more matches to be played on the 3rd January again at QE Boys. The team will need to finish as one of the top two sides to progress into the finals round joining two sides from the South Division.

Watford U16’s – 22nd November
The U16’s started their campaign on Sunday 22nd November at QE Boys school, the team are in the North Division along with Chelmsford & Ealing.
The team’s opening game was against Chelmsford, with the games being played over four quarters the team took an opening first quarter lead at 2-0, Joey Gardner-White & Thuish Kumarage hitting the goals.
The second period saw Watford extend their lead to 4-1 with another goal from Gardner-White & a first from Petar Djordic.
Into the second half & Chelmsford won the third quarter 3-2, Watford’s goals came via Gardner-White & Djordic. The final period saw Watford win 3-2 & the game overall 9-6. The final three goals came via Gardner-White, Kumarage & Djordic.
The second game of the afternoon was against Ealing and in an opening cagy first quarter at 1-1, Watford then took control of the game winning the next three quarters 4-3, 2-1 & 5-3 to win their second match of the day 12-8.
Watford’s goalscorers via Ealing were: Gardner-White (4), Djordic (3), Will Eggleton (3) Kumarage (1) & Alex Jones (1).
Following the first round of matches the team are now sitting top of the U16’s North Division. With two further matches to be played on the 17th January again at QE Boys. The team will need to finish as one of the top two sides to progress into the finals round joining two sides from the South Division.

Watford U18’s – 15th November
The U18’s started their campaign on Sunday 15th November at Whitgift school, the team are in one Division along with four other sides Beckenham, Chelmsford, Croydon & Enfield.
The team will need to finish in the top two to progress to a two-legged final to find out the overall WL U18’s champions for the 2015-16 season.
The team’s opening game against local rivals Enfield was easy as the team won the game 10-3 & won each quarter – 2-1, 2-0, 3-1, 3-1.
Hamish Hudson had a great game scoring 5 goals, Kavi Shah & Sam Carling hit a double each & Paul Botje weight in with the other.
The team’s second game of the day was against Croydon and in an evenly fought contest the team managed to hold on for a close fought win at 5-4.
The first quarter finished in a 1-1 draw. The second quarter saw Watford sneak ahead 3-1 with a two-nil quarter. The third period saw the teams fight out a 2-2 for a 5-3 lead.
The final period saw Croydon close the gap to within one goal at 5-4 but the team hung on to register their second straight victory.
Following the first round of matches the team are now sitting top of the U18’s Division. With two further matches to be played on the 23rd January at Hillingdon Leisure Centre. The team will need to finish as one of the top two sides to progress into the two-legged final play-off.
