Our U15's win two from three in latest round of London League Div One

Our U15's win two from three in latest round of London League Div One

Stephen Chambers26 Jun 2023 - 13:31

The second round of this season's London League Div One took place at Hillingdon Leisure Centre on Sunday afternoon..

The team are currently top of Div One having won their opening three matches back in early June and the second round of three matches was another chance to continue the teams good form.

Sunday's round of matches kicked off for Watford against Basingstoke and in a cagey first half Watford's Rishi Patel scored the only goal.

Into the second half and a goal from Iilja Crompton made it 2-0 before Basingstoke halved the deficit but with 61 seconds remaining on the clock another Crompton goal had his side
3-1 up and the team held on to secure their fourth win of the campaign.

The team's second game of the afternoon followed straight after that Basingstoke win so little time for a rest but our U15's were ready for the challenge that Worthing might have presented.

A goal from Gethin Dorrington after only 65 seconds was soon cancelled out by the Worthing attack for 1-1 but then with 2.32 remaining on the clock until half time a goal from Theo Katsaris and another Crompton goal had his side in front at 3-1.

The second half opened with a Worthing goal after 20 seconds for 3-2. Watford then had two man-up chances to extend their lead but neither was taken until Rishi Patel scored his second of the day for a 4-2 lead. Worthing hit back soon after for 4-3 but with only 25 seconds remaining the team held on to secure the second win of the afternoon.

The final game of the day was against West London Penguin a tough team who we had managed to beat in the opening weekend.

Penguin got the first goal of the game and Crompton equalised mid-way through the first half for 1-1.

However Penguin then managed to score two unanswered goals for a 3-1 half time lead.

A good half time team talk by Coach Adam Page seemed to have the desired effect as goals from Khian Chandaria & Joy Kaye had the teams level at 3-3.

Two minutes of play then ensured with neither team manging to find a way past the others defence until with 2.10 remaining on the clock Penguin hit their fourth which turned out to be the decisive goal as they hung on to record a 4-3 win.

A disappointing end to the second round but the team still lead the table having won five out of six and with three more matches to come on the 17th September at Woodside the title could go down to the wire...
