Steve Chambers17 Dec 2021 - 20:29

The Swim England NAG’s Championships will be held this weekend at Sheffield’s Pond’s Forge venue..

Sheffield’s Pond’s Forge is the venue for this year's National Age Group's Championships, with each competition held as a one-day event, the 2021 Champions will be decided on the day.

On Saturday it’s the turn of the Boys and with 15 teams entered from clubs across the country, split into four groups and only the winner from each group going into the Semi-Finals it will be a very competitive tournament.

Watford are drawn in Group B alongside Northampton A, Warrington & West London Penguins B.

The team will want to get off to the best possible start and they play Warrington at 11.00am. With Northampton A playing WL Penguins B at 11.35am.

The team’s next game at 12.45pm against Northampton could be the game that decides who finishes top of Group B as both sides will know the outcome of their opening matches.
Watford finish their group B fixtures against WL Penguins B at 12.45pm.

Depending on the team’s group finish this will determine who they play next and if they where to finish top they would go into a semi-final match at 16.15pm and would play the winner of Grp A that consists of teams from City of Manchester, Devonport, North London & Welsh side Cwm Draig.

If the team finish second or below, they will then have games against the other sides from each group to determine their overall position in this year’s Championships.
The team selected for this Saturday’s matches is as follows:

Keeyan Shah (GK), Samuel Akerman, Michael Barrett, Bertie Dix, Oli Broadwith, Nils Cars, Dusan Crompton, William Fawcett, Ed Carpenter, Parsa Zamani, Sam Barnes.

The Girls U15’s NAG’s competition is on Sunday also at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge and this competition has drawn 10 teams together from across the country.

The ten sides are in two groups of Five with Watford in Grp B alongside Cheltenham, Devonport, Grantham & City of Liverpool.

The team will need to finish top of the group if they want to be crowned NAG’s Champions for 2021 and if they do finish top they would face one of five teams from Grp A in the Gold medal match which consists of sides from Croydon, City of Manchester, City of Sheffield, West London Penguins & Worthing.

A second-place finish would see the team into the Bronze medal match, a third place finish or below, will see the team have games against the other teams in Group A to determine their overall position in this year’s Championships.

Our Girls start their quest for the Championship with a game at 11.35am against Grantham and follow this up with games against Cheltenham at 13.20pm, City of Liverpool at 14.30pm & Devonport at 15.40pm.
